As a family we tried to be thoughtful about how we spend advent. Especially as Grace gets older we want advent to be a meaningful time and a chance for all of us to learn and reflect. Advent is a time of anticipation. The word “advent” is about the coming, the arrival of something or someone. So we spend the advent season waiting and remembering the course of events that preceded and foreshadowed the coming of our king. It is a humble experience to see our Creator’s sovereignty as we look back through history and see His hand preparing the way for this long-expected baby, the man who would fulfill the promises of hope, peace, joy and love.It is also humbling to see His hand on the smaller scale of our lives. We anticipate the arrival of a new phase in our lives.
It becomes more real every day as details begin to be set in place. We reflect on our lives and all the things that have brought us to this point, preparing us for what is in store. We won’t fully appreciate it all until we can look back in hindsight. We don’t know what skills or past experiences will come into play in this new life on the Island, but we trust that He has equipped and prepared us for this.Advent shows us that He doesn’t do things haphazardly. There is a plan and we are all a part of it.
PRAYERS ANSWERED
We had a wonderful time reconnecting with a bunch of old friends who met together for lunch. Grace is still an amazing, happy and easy baby. Tooth count is up to two. We just got some details about the conference we will attend in Kenya on our way to the Islands and it sounds good.

PRAYERS REQUESTED
Grace woke up last night with a nasty cough and it woke her up throughout the night. Pray that she sleeps well tonight and recovers quickly. We have one more week before heading to Missouri for Christmas with family. Pray that we would do all the things we are supposed to get done this week.
